He's Here!!!! He's Here!!!!

Well Tuesday morning we went to the doctor at 8 am and he gave us the choice of a trial induction or a c-section my cervix wasn't dilated and his head had not engaged in the pelvis. He sent us home to make our decision and call when we were ready. Chad and I talked and talked about what we should do. We finally both decided to do the trial induction because if we didn't try we would always wonder "what if". So we called the doctor and they scheduled an induction at 11 am that same morning. We hurried and got the dog to the kennel and then grabbed our last lunch as just the two of us. Then we headed to the hospital. They checked us in and got us settled. They started the medicine at 1:35 pm that was supposed to open my cervix. I quickly started to have contractions one right after another without any breaks. I had to lay flat on my back for 2 hours and then could get up and move around with the medicine in for another 10 hours. I was really miserable and only got 2 hours of sleep only when they gave me some medicine to ease the contractions. At 1:35 am they stopped that medicine and then began the petocin to induce labor at 2 am. Sometime around 3 am they became concerned with the baby's heart rate, they made me try laying in several different positions to see if this would help. It did not help out and around 4 am they decided that we would have to have a c-section for the sake of the baby. They prepped me for the surgery and we headed off to the operating room around 4:30 am. Augustus "Auggie" William Lohnes came into this world, screaming, at 5:08 am April 16, 2008. Chad got to announce what it was: boy or girl. They brought him by me and I couldn't believe how big he was. They announced that he was 9 pounds 14.9 ounces and 22 inches long!!! We almost had a 10 pounder.

So glad that Auggie is finally here, and that everybody is home & okay. 9 lb 15 oz is a 10 pounder as far as we are concerned! Giada is looking forward to meeting baby Auggie and teaching him all about what will happen in his first year, which is all she knows so far! See you soon. Sleep whenever possible.
